Wreck Reclamation

Right-click wrecks to harvest alloys from destroyed armies. How wreck reclamation fuels recovery and Flux economy in Sanctuary Shattered Sun.

Wreck Reclamation

Battles in Sanctuary leave wrecks — husks of tanks, shattered drones, and broken naval hulls that litter the battlefield. Unlike cosmetic debris, wrecks are economic objects. Select an engineer or reclaim unit, right-click a wreck, and your team harvests alloys and salvage back into the Flux stream. Reclamation turns every lost engagement into a partial refund and gives the smarter player a way back from recession.

Ignoring wrecks is leaving money on the ground while your opponent scoops it.

How to Reclaim

Basic workflow in the Demo:

  1. Select engineers or dedicated reclaim units (faction-specific)
  2. Right-click the wreck — multiple engineers stack speed
  3. Watch Flux tick upward as salvage converts to alloys
  4. Auto-reclaim queues exist on some chassis — check your commander upgrades

Wrecks deplete and vanish once fully harvested. Priority goes to high-tier wrecks (superweapon fragments, capital ships, elite Chosen hulls) because they return the most metal per second.

See How to Reclaim Wrecks for Demo hotkey setup and engineer control groups.

Metal from Destroyed Armies

Reclamation value scales with unit cost and battle size:

  • Skirmish scraps — modest bump, enough to finish one stalled upgrade
  • Mid-game blob fights — hundreds of alloys if reclaimed before the next push
  • Post-superweapon fields — cracked terrain + wreck clusters = recovery jackpot (see Superweapons)

The faction that wins a fight but forgets to reclaim may still lose the economic war. Guard swarms produce many small wrecks; EDA leaves fewer but heavier pieces.

Strategic Timing

When to reclaim vs when to fight:

  • Safe reclaim — after you control the zone and enemy air is dead
  • Contested reclaim — send escorts; engineers are fragile
  • Emergency reclaim — during recession, pause unit queues and salvage before rebuilding
  • Denial reclaim — steal wrecks in no-man’s land to starve enemy recovery

Pair reclaim routes with weather control: frozen straits trap wrecks where only your engineers can reach them.

Engineer Opportunity Cost

Reclaiming is not free. Engineers tied to salvage cannot build, cannot repair, and still contribute to Flux drain if they assist other tasks. During a timing push, pull reclaimers off the field — during a defensive reset, pull every idle engineer to the wreck field.

Balance reclaim with Flux expenditure: if net Flux is already red, reclaim first, queue second.

Faction Notes

FactionReclaim Edge
GuardCheap engineers, many wrecks from drone swarms
EDAFewer wrecks but high value per hulk
ChosenLosing Chosen units hurts — reclaim enemy wrecks instead

After losing your elite army as Chosen, enemy wreck fields are your best income source until shield infrastructure returns.

Interaction with King Piece Play

Commander deaths end the match, but near-death fights around your King Piece often create reclaim circles. If you survive with Second Wind, immediately salvage the exchange zone before pushing again.

Conversely, if you snipe an enemy commander bodyguard, reclaim before celebrating — those alloys fund the win screen push.

Common Mistakes

  1. Chasing kills instead of reclaiming after a won fight
  2. Single engineer on a huge wreck field — assign a reclaim control group
  3. Reclaiming under artillery — wait for silence
  4. Ignoring naval wrecks after flash-freeze melts — offshore salvage is rich
  5. Reclaim during superweapon charge — prioritize survival, salvage after

Hotkeys and Control Groups

Assign engineers to a dedicated reclaim control group (typically Ctrl+number) so you can send them to wreck fields without pulling builders off construction. The How to Reclaim Wrecks guide covers Demo-specific bindings. Consistent hotkeys separate average players from those who recover 200 alloys after every trade.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I reclaim wrecks?

Select engineers or reclaim units and right-click the wreck. Multiple engineers reclaim faster. Some commander upgrades enable auto-reclaim.

Do wrecks give the same metal as building the unit?

No. Reclamation returns a fraction based on unit tier and wreck type, but large battles still yield significant alloys.

Can the enemy reclaim my wrecks?

Yes. Wrecks are neutral objects — whoever reclaims first gets the Flux. Deny salvage in contested zones.

Should I reclaim during recession?

Yes. Reclaiming is one of the fastest ways to recover from recession without new extractors.

Which faction benefits most from reclamation?

Guard generates many wrecks from cheap units; Chosen players should reclaim enemy metal after elite losses. See the Faction Tier List.
